The Duke of Edinburgh International Award [DofE] programme is thriving at The Regent Secondary School. We have a devoted team of staff working to support increasing numbers every year in both the Bronze and Silver cohorts. Despite its short history, it has become a very exciting and popular activity choice for KS4 students.
Regent students can begin their Bronze programme when they are 14, this is a DofE requirement. All students that complete Bronze are then eligible to begin their Silver programme when they are 15. Many students go on to their next schools abroad to register and complete the Gold programme.
We are delighted that in the past two years we have been able to become an Independent Award Centre, bring First Aid Training in-house and become our own charity. Exciting changes seem to be happening every year as the dynamic programme adapts to the needs of our students and circumstances.
DofE is so much more than just choosing one activity. Each candidate tailors the programme to suit their interests and needs within the parameters set out by the International Award requirements. Bronze and Silver candidates are expected to devote themselves to a number differing challenges. These include the following:
