The Best School in Nigeria.

The Regent School Achieves "Outstanding" Report in BSO rating by PENTA

We are Outstanding!

We are extremely proud to announce that The Regent School has achieved the prestigious OUTSTANDING status in the British Schools Overseas (BSO) PENTA inspections, making it the only school in Nigeria to accomplish this remarkable feat. This recognition holds immense significance for our parents, students, staff, and the entire educational community.

Out of the 35 BSO schools in Africa, there are only five schools in Nigeria in the number and The Regent School is the only school in Nigeria to receive this outstanding rating. This achievement places us at the forefront of educational excellence on the continent, setting a benchmark for other schools to aspire to.

Conducted by the Department of Education, the inspection evaluates the quality of education and its alignment with leading independent schools in the UK.

The inspection report reveals that The Regent School has been awarded an outstanding rating across all six assessment areas, which include students’ achievement, personal and social development, guidance, protection and care, curriculum, teaching, and the school’s leadership and management.

Notably, the report highlights the significant progress made by the school since the last assessment in 2017. It particularly acknowledges the exceptional academic attainment of our students, surpassing the international average from Year 1 to Year 6.

Headmaster's comment

Mr. Joe Labuschagne, Headmaster of The Regent School, expressed his delight at the inspection results, and is quoted as saying “This year’s report was a great achievement as we were judged ‘OUTSTANDING’ in all areas! We are the first school in Nigeria to be judged as such and one of the few in Africa. There are currently 5 BSO Schools in Nigeria and 35 in Africa and this rating puts us ahead of other schools on the continent.

The Regent School was first inspected by PENTA in 2017. A follow-up inspection should have occurred in 2020 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But in 2023 we achieved ‘OUTSTANDING’!

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our staff, parents

and pupils on this great or let me rather say AWESOME achievement.”

While celebrating this momentous achievement, we recognize that the pursuit of excellence is an ongoing and collaborative endeavour. We value the active involvement of our parents, as their feedback is crucial to our continuous improvement. Earlier this year, we launched a school-wide survey to gather direct and honest feedback on our performance. We sincerely appreciate the insights shared by our parent community, which helps guide our decision-making process at the highest level. It enables us to enhance our academic standards, enrich our sports and music programs, and prioritize the safety and well-being of our children.

At The Regent School, we remain committed to providing an exceptional educational experience and continually raising the bar of excellence. We are grateful for the unwavering support of our community and look forward to embarking on this journey of continuous improvement together.
