With great pride, I share the news that Regent Secondary School has been awarded an ‘Outstanding’ rating in our recent British Schools Overseas (BSO) inspection. This score is the highest possible rating, placing our school among an elite group of British international schools worldwide. Most significantly, Regent Secondary School is the first and only secondary school in West Africa to achieve this standard.
This recognition results from the hard work, dedication, and commitment of our entire school community—staff, students, parents, and governors—who have all contributed to making Regent a centre of excellence.
Vanguard News, among others, also covered this news, reporting the great feat and the essence of the achievement for quality education in Nigeria.
The BSO inspection, commissioned by the UK Department for Education (DfE) and carried out by Penta International, evaluates British international schools against a rigorous set of standards to ensure that they meet the exact high expectations of top schools in the UK. Schools are assessed across nine key areas:
Each standard gets graded on a four-point scale:
Regent Secondary School achieved Outstanding in all nine areas—a rare and exceptional accomplishment.
This result is the culmination of months of focused preparation and years of continuous improvement. The inspection team observed 35 lessons, reviewed school documentation and policies, examined student work, and conducted discussions with staff, students, and parents. Their findings confirmed what we have worked tirelessly to achieve: a school that meets and exceeds international standards.
Our success is due to:
