Bilkis Ahmed Tolani is the head of lower key stage 1 at the Regent School Abuja and has worked in the school for the past 18 years.
She received her Bachelor Degree in Education in 1999 from the University of Ilorin in Kwara state. Bilkis joined the Regent school in 2002 as an assistant teacher in the Early years department where she worked for 2 years and in Reception for another 3 years, before she was promoted as a class teacher in 2007.
From 2009 to 2011, she was the sports coordinator, supporting the sport department on events and supervising children’s outdoor activities with other schools. Bilkis worked with Nursery children from 2011 to 2013, after which she decided to work with older children in Key stage 1 and was moved to Year 1.
She was promoted as the Head of Department in 2018 and became the first ‘Local’ (Nigerian) to hold the position, she has held the position successfully since then. During her career at the Regent school, she has established different positions from Early years mentor, a member of the Literacy team and then Literacy coordinator (when the coordinator went on maternity leave), Head of Year 1, Early years club coordinator and Head of Year 2.
