What We do
Community Service

Community Service

We may not, by ourselves, be able to change the world, but we can help in our little way make it a better place. As part of the ethos of The Regent Secondary School, responsibility for others is a recurring theme taught to the children. There are formal and informal ways in which students can help others. Formally, the International Award (Duke of Edinburgh Award) is open to all students.

One of the key features of this award is service. Students are encouraged to participate in:

  • Community service projects
  • Conservation work
  • Voluntary service in hospitals or community homes
  • More specialised training such as lifesaving, first aid or rescue services.

Informally, students visit orphanages and undertake hospital visits to sick children. Through their interactions with other children the students learn empathy and philanthropy.
